The initial school trials for the Book of Beasties mental health programme and card game have come and gone in a flash.
It was a wonderful day, full of amazing people - thanks to Haseltine Primary School in Sydenham for all their support so far. We can't wait to come back and visit again soon.

Arguably one of the greatest horror movies ever made, Stanley Kubrick’s the Shining is being re-released in cinemas across the UK just in time for Halloween, so we went to see the scary spectacle on the big screen for ourselves...
Our experience of seeing the Shining for the first time was digging out our parent’s VHS copy, and watching it in secret at rather a young age (tut tut). Regretted that!
Although, what followed was an ever growing love of the all things horror… which became a prominent influence in one way or another to much of what Cutrist do today.
Like many people, we have watched the Shining over and over… and over again! But the silver screen really adds something special.
Having the legendary Jack Nicholson’s grimaced face looming over you as you cower in your seat, is certainly different to hiding behind a pillow in the comfort of your living room.
Before its release in 1980, Kubrick promised “the scariest horror film of all time”, and although author of the novel the film was based on, Stephen King, reportedly "utterly loathed" the adaptation, that promise was kept.
Regardless of how many times you may have entered into the winding halls of the Overlook Hotel, it really is worth a watch on the movie theatre, because… well, because it’s terrifying. And who doesn't like to be terrified every now and then.
Treat (or trick) yourself, after all, all work and no play…
I wanted to offer a bit of clarity surrounding Cutrist Comics - so this is a sort of mini-origin story. Where it can from, and why it came about... that sort of thing... Ya know?

GOOD MOOOORNING! Phil here...
Thought I would write a little summin' - we don't upload many blog posts on here (mainly because my ramblings are probably not as entertaining as Tom's illustrations), but today I felt the urge to....
We have been to a number of meetings now with various people in various positions, and have been humbled by how willing they've been to help.
I can see that these folks recognise what we are trying to do and have seen the potential for Book of Beasties as a helping hand to those who suffer from mental health, and we are eternally grateful to everyone that is giving us their valuable time to assist us in achieving our goal. I just feel like I cannot thank them enough, and I want them to know how much it means to both me and the rest of the Cutrist Comics team - I know they share our vision for Book of Beasties, and hope more will as well going forward.
Don't get me wrong, we've had our share of negativity, people have scoffed at the idea, laughed at us when we told them of our ambition, some have even denied the existence of mental illness amongst younger people.
They say that "children of a certain age are too young to comprehend any sort of disorder they are experiencing, so cannot suffer from it!"... Hmm! Some children may be too young to comprehend what an idiot is, doesn't mean they're not there!
We will not stop fighting the good fight and working our socks off to get Book of Beasties to the highest level of quality it possibly can be, so it offers the best help it can for young people as well as the teachers helping them to deal with their issues.
I hope you good folk don't mind me posting this kind of thing... I just want to document every step on this really amazing and exciting journey. I will upload a new video soon... And I'm sure Tom has some goodies in store for us all today. :)
Thanks for readin'.
